Our History
For more than a quarter century, Doneslon Air Conditioning and AC Service & Installation have been delivering the highest quality heating, ventilation and air conditioning services for businesses and residential customers in Middle Tennessee.
Before joining forces in 1991, the two companies had separately built popular and successful businesses within the area. AC Service & Installation opened in 1975 and quickly established itself as a respected provider of HVAC equipment and services. Well ahead of its time AC Service was the first in the area to offer proactive maintenance plans (a.k.a. preventive maintenance agreements) designed to reduce service calls, prolong equipment life and promote energy conservation.
Donelson Air Conditioning was established in 1967 and even today is still the most recognized name for heating and air conditioning products and services in the Middle Tennessee area. Renowned for their excellence in service to the homeowner and small business, and along with a large and loyal customer base the company was able to build on its capabilities year after year.
After their union in 1991, AC Service & Installation narrowed its focus to business customers, while Donelson Air Conditioning turned to the homeowner. Now known as AC/DAC with in the work family, the combined resources and specialized effort has been a tremendous success.
As with the preventive maintenance agreement the company continued to be a head of its time when in 1996, AC Service & Installation, Donelson Air Conditioning and several other companies in various regions of the United States consolidated to form Service Experts, Inc., the largest publicly owned HVAC retailer in the United States.
Not long after in 2000, SEI merged with Lennox International. This affiliation with one of the world’s best-known manufacturers of HVAC equipment expanded our resources and broadened the scope of our opportunities, and made us the largest HVAC Company in North America.
Our Future
Looking to the future and to new challenges, our company is committed to keeping up with our rapidly changing industry. With the ever increasing cost of electricity and natural gas, equipment manufactures are producing higher efficiency (less energy consuming) equipment, and just recently the U.S. Department Energy is requiring that all equipment manufactured after January 23, 2006 meet a new federally mandated 13 SEER Rating (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) a 30% increase from the current 10 SEER, because the higher the SEER rating, the less it costs to operate and that’s good news for homeowners.
Another change within our industry is the continued increase of interest in Indoor Air Quality (IAQ.) Today’s consumer is aware of the air quality within their home, and the need for healthier, cleaner indoor air. Advances have been made with products and services that allow the consumer a broad range of options. These advancements are great news for the consumer and allow AC/DAC to offer a wide variety of solutions to our customers concerning the air in their homes and businesses. Just recently we introduced the Home Health Report Card that allows us to evaluate indoor air quality and make suggestions as to what products and services best fit a homeowner’s needs. This along with our continued commitment to associate training within the IAQ field is just a few of the ways AC Service and Donelson Air Conditioning continue to be an IAQ leader.
Our Associates
At Donelson Air Conditioning we are committed to providing all of our associates with the proper education and training. Our industry has advanced, so quickly that we have found this to be a challenge, but as with any great company we have met the challenge head on. With the recent addition of two up to date training facilities at our Nashville office, and with the possibility of a third for the advancement of our installation division we feel we have met this challenge. HLS has developed an intensive four-week boot camp that can take someone that has never been in the industry and have him or her EPA certified, and possibly even NATE certified in just one month. Our business development team has onsite and online classes available for our administrative, support, and management staff. All of our technicians currently must present verification of their experience, competency and knowledge, pass written examinations and submit personal recommendations upon hire. Also, all of our technicians and installers are NATE certified or are in the process of training or testing for NATE Certification.
To Sum It All Up
Our Service Division provides swift, effective service 24-hours a day, 7 days per week to a variety of residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional customers. Our highly trained service technicians maintain equipment ranging from a 1.5-ton central air system to 100-ton reciprocating water chiller.
Donelson Air Conditioning and AC Service & Installation has technicians available to respond to our customer’s Home and/or Facility Environment needs 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our Customer Care Center is staffed until Midnight on weekdays and until 8 PM on Saturday and Sunday. Outside those hours our on-call technicians and installers are at the ready to meet our customer’s demands. Our associates are dedicated to providing the highest quality heating, ventilation and air conditioning product delivery and service.
